Fruitful collaboration among African sites ensures effective progress of research study on mobile application for monitoring pregnancy outcomes in Sub-Saharan Africa.
November 2024
Malawi's Thyolo District Hospital recently hosted a visit on October 29-30, 2024, strengthening the ongoing partnership between research teams from Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC) in Ghana and Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Malawi. The teams are collaborating closely on the EVI-sponsored EVAPREAP research study, a pivotal part of the European Commission- funded project, ADVANCE_VAC4PM (www.advance-vac4pm.eu).
The EVAPREAP study, being conducted at four locations across Sub-Saharan Africa—including KHRC in Ghana, MUST in in Malawi, Fondation pour la Recherche Scientifique (FORS) in Benin, and Groupe de Recherche Action Santé (GRAS) in Burkina Faso—aims to assess the feasibility and acceptability of a mobile application for monitoring pregnancy outcomes.
The findings from the EVAPREAP study are expected to play a crucial role in designing future large-scale trials for placental malaria vaccines and other health interventions benefiting pregnant people across the region. Also, this tool could greatly improve maternal health in the future by tracking outcomes and providing real-time data for healthcare providers.
This visit underscores the successful collaboration between the Ghanaian and Malawian research teams and reflects a shared commitment to advancing maternal health research in Africa.
